Delta Dental Coverage Availability & Fees

There are two major types of Delta Dental PPO plans: Basic and Premium. The one you’re currently enrolled in will determine your overall coverage availability and fees. In the meantime, we’ve put together a quick summary of the differences between Delta Dental’s Basic and Premium PPO plans.

Delta Dental PPO Basic:

$50 deductible/person
$1,000 annual maximum/person
100% coverage for preventive care (also exempt from deductibles and waiting periods)
50% coverage for “basic” services (fillings, tooth extraction, etc.)

Delta Dental PPO Premium:

$50 deductible/person
$2,000 annual maximum/person
100% coverage for preventive care (also exempt from deductibles and waiting periods)
80% coverage for “basic” services (fillings, tooth extraction, etc.)
50% coverage for “major” services (root canals, crowns, etc.)
50% coverage for dental implants & dentures
50% coverage for orthodontics
80% coverage for teeth whitening

As you might expect, the PPO Premium plan has higher monthly rates than the Basic plan, but also provides more favorable terms.

The Benefits of Seeing an In-Network Dentist

You’ll be able to use your Delta Dental PPO plan regardless of whether you visit an in-network or out-of-network dentist. The difference is that you’ll save more money with an in-network dentist. Our practice, for example, will be able to apply the fullest extent of coverage provided by your plan. A dentist who’s out-of-network will only be able to apply a fraction of your coverage.
