Dental insurance in Concord primarily covers preventive and restorative treatment. Cosmetic dentistry is typically excluded because these services (i.e., veneers, dental bonding, teeth whitening) are not medically necessary.

Depending on your plan, the average coverage for dental services looks something like:

If you believe orthodontic treatment is something you or a member of your family might need, it’s essential to examine whether your policy offers coverage. If not, you may need to purchase a supplemental plan to help cover a portion of the cost.

What is the Difference Between Dental and Medical Insurance?

The difference between medical and dental insurance is that one emphasizes preventive care, while the other emphasizes greater coverage for reactive care. You should not expect to receive substantial savings when seeing your doctor for a wellness visit; however, if you need to be hospitalized for a broken bone or illness, this is where your medical insurance will prove most beneficial.

Dental insurance, however, encourages a proactive approach. You are rewarded with 80-100% coverage when you choose to see your dentist every six months for dental checkups and cleanings. Your out-of-pocket costs increase if you need minor or major restorative treatment.

When reviewing your plan to determine how much you can expect to spend at your next dental visit, you’ll find there are two columns: in-network and out-of-network. Here is the difference between the two.

In-Network

Generations Dental Care is pleased to be in-network with Delta Dental. This means we have a contract to offer lower fees for services at our Concord dental office. As a result, you pay less when requiring these preventive or restorative treatments.

Out-of-Network

Just because we are out-of-network with other dental insurance companies does not mean we will not strive to help you save as much as possible. When preparing for treatment, you will be required to pay the full amount up front, but we will handle the claims filing process to ensure you receive the maximum reimbursement.
